Rummy is a popular card game that is enjoyed by people all around the world. The objective of the game is to form sets and sequences of cards in your hand, and to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Here are the basic rules for playing rummy:

  1. The game is typically played with two to six players and uses a standard deck of 52 cards.

  2. Each player is dealt 13 cards at the beginning of the game.

  3. The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, they can either draw a card from the deck or take the top card from the discard pile.

  4. The player then tries to form sets or sequences of cards in their hand. A set is three or four cards of the same rank but different suits, while a sequence is three or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order.

  5. Once the player has formed at least one set or sequence, they can lay it down on the table in front of them. This is called "melding."

  6. The player then discards one card from their hand, face-up on the discard pile.

  7. Play continues clockwise around the table, with each player taking turns drawing a card, melding sets and sequences, and discarding one card.

  8. The game continues until one player has no cards left in their hand. This player is the winner.

There are many variations of rummy, and the rules can vary depending on the specific version you are playing. However, the basic gameplay outlined above should give you a good understanding of how to play the game.
