• A pubic library that was maintained by a 62-year-old laborer in Mysuru was allegedly set on fire by some unknown people.
• The library was run by Syed Issaq. It had over 11,000 books, mostly in Kannada. Issaq has said that there were books and papers of all religions.
• He said that everything has been burnt down and destroyed. He has also filed a complaint alleging the fire may have been set by those who are against the Kannada language.
• The fire news was instantly spread to social media. On hearing about the incident, people on social media have so far raised 13 lakh to help Mr. Issaq, who is determined to build the library again.
