How to Troubleshoot WordPress Error 404?

WordPress Error 404 usually happens when your server is unable to find any specific posts or pages. It can occur anytime on when you have made any changes to the site. This error is related to your links; therefore, you must first check the permalinks to fix it. By checking your permalink's correct configuration, you can be sure about the error. After doing this, your .htaccess file will get updated with correct configurations.

If this doesn't resolve your problem, then you must try manual resetting of the permalinks. For this, you will need to reset it by editing the .htaccess file. Make sure to access the website through your FTP to fix this error. Follow these steps:

  • Go to your WordPress Dashboard and then click on settings.
  • Reach the option of Permalinks and then choose default settings.
  • Tap on the Save Changes button.
  • Change the settings and then choose Save.
