On 1 October, Spotify web player announced that it will be integrating with Google Maps to provide music to listeners while on the go. Now users can use their mobile for both music and navigation.
There's no need to switch back and forth between your directions and tunes. Instead, you can control what you are listening to from Spotify right in the Google Maps app with the playback controls enabled. This makes Spotify web player become an easily accessible part of your journey!
When you open Google Maps, you will see a small Spotify icon in a sidebar through which you can browse songs, albums, and playlists. You can pause, play, skip. or switch to find your perfect jam. And there will be a banner in Spotify to help users return to the active navigation.
This integration follows the success of this popular music streaming service pairing with Waze in 2017.
The integration will be released over the next few days. It will be available on Android and iOS devices. Users will need to download the latest version of both Google Maps and Spotify on the App Store or Google Play Store.
