·         Open the updated QuickBooks version.

·         Go to the File icon.

·         Select the Open or Restore Company tab.

·         Select the Open a company file.

·         Click the Next tab.

·         Choose the data file & click on the Open icon.

·         Verify the checkbox notification & choose the Update Now icon.

·         Finally, save the file at the desired location.

If you are going to open a company file using a newer version of QuickBooks, you may receive a prompt that would read, Do you want to continue? Select Yes.

Follow these steps once the file is updated.

·         Create a backup in a safe location.

·         In case the file was copied from a different computer, create a file copy in the computer the file initially belonged to.

·         If you aren't able to find your data on its original location. You need to check your hard drive for *QBW files.

·         Now search display hidden files and folders.

·         Also check out the payroll service.

·         Open employee menu then select my payroll service and finally go to the accounting/billing information.
