Uninstallation of Office setup depends completely on the type of installation. In case, someone else has installed the Office setup, then you have to follow these steps to know the type of installation. There are two types of installation that are used by the users:
MSI: Microsoft Windows Installer is an old method of installing Office setup through a local installation resource
Click-to-Run: It is the latest method of installing and updating Office over the internet. By default the latest version of Office along with most of the one-time purchase of Office products installed by this method only.
To find out the installation type, do the following:
If there is "Update Options" available, it means you have installed the setup using Click-to-Run installation
If the option is not available, then go for MSI type installation
In case of click-to-run, before you remove or uninstall the Office setup, log in your Windows account with your administrator account. Then follow these steps:
Remove the Windows Installer packages
Remove the Office scheduled tasks
Use Task Manager to end Click-to-Run tasks
Delete the Office services
Now, remove the Office files
Remove Office Registry subkeys
Now, remove Start menu shortcuts
Uninstall the Office Click-To-Run Licensing Component, Extensibility Component and Localization Component
In case of MSI type installation, unhide all the hidden folders and files before moving towards the uninstallation of Office setup. Then follow these steps:
Remove any remaining Windows Installer packages of Office
Halt the Office Source Engine Service
Delete Office installation folders and files
Now, remove the registry subkeys for the Office system
