Back-links are the inbound links to your website or web pages from other websites, blogs or from any other internet source. In my point of view, these back-links do a lot of good stuff for your website. If you have enough back-links or simply links to your website on some good websites and blogs, search engines would feel good about your website and assume that it's a famous website.
