God of War: Ascension - Only Ashes Left, Where is the Soul [REVIEW]

Overview

God of war: Ascension is the seventh title in the acclaimed God of war series. It's a prequel to the original God of war. The blood gasping story is all about vengeance, and a fight to kill almost every one. The characterization is epic, and bloody fight sequences are commendable.

If you have been an ardent follower of the God of war series then definitely the new title has a scope to enthrall you. The story isn't compelling enough, but erotic Kratos is not to be missed. For the first time ever Multiplayer mode has been introduced to witness more blood-socked heroism. Well, the single player mode is still far the best to experience God of war: Ascension.

Lack of compelling modes is the reason why Multiplayer mode sucks big time. It is more like a gimmick, and offer peanuts in terms of originality.

Gameplay

Set in a fictionalized Greece, God of war: Ascension is a story of Kartos: the angry Greek hero. As mentioned above, the story is set before the original God of war. Emotionally chattered by his deceased wife and child in regards to his bloody past, Kartos, has to fight with the Furies. In the opening sequence Megaera, one among the furies appeared.

As a player, you need to fight with mega monsters. The kind of monsters shown and the fight sequences truly signifies God of war series. On the graphics side, God of war: Ascension truly magnetized you. A big kudos to the team managed by Santa Monica studios. This is the best God of war game in terms of sheer grandeur, and epic mastery. When it comes to difficulty level, it is more of a natural phenomenon. Few levels were kick ass and surely gives you pain.

The game also has tricky puzzles, which were obviously a bit tricky to crack. There is a change in the way Kartos handle weapons. Now he only uses Blades of Chaos; learning about new powers depending upon a situation also adds charm.

Conclusion

God of war: Ascension is cinematic, but drama fizzles when compared to God of War 3. The weakest part of the game is its engaging story. The action is repetitive, and eventually you get irritated. It would be right to give to God of War: Ascension 7/10 from GizBot. The breath taking visuals, entrainment value, and Kartos, were the reason why the game ranks high in our score board. Stay tuned to GizBot.
